Gardner Middlebrook Award

The Gardner Middlebrook award is elected by an award committee and announced during the Annual Congress

The Gardner Middlebrook Award is presented by the European Society of Mycobacteriology (ESM) at the Annual Congress.

 

The primary criterion for the award, which is mandatory, is that the recipient has had a long-standing career in mycobacteria research of high international quality.

 

Additionally, the following non-mandatory secondary criteria are also taken into consideration:

- Gender balance,

- European affiliation,

- Active contributions to ESM,

- Contributions beyond scientific research, such as communication and professional responsibilities within the field of mycobacteriology.
