Verena Schünemann

Since 2023 Verena Schuenemann works at the University of Basel as a professor for archeological sciences. Her research focuses on ancient pathogen genomics, and her mission is to uncover the long-term evolution of pathogens of humans, animals and plants as well as their interactions with the environment. Verena Schuenemann started her scientific career at the University of Tübingen and then continued as an assistant professor at the University of Zurich and the University of Vienna.
